How Pulse4All creates access to ready-to-use AEDs with circuly.
While a subscription-based model solves the accessibility challenge, keeping defibrillators "ready-to-use" requires seamless tracking, updates, and renewals. How does Pulse4all leverage circuly to bring this vision to life—and do it at scale?

What is Pulse4all's business model?
Pulse4all offers defibrillators on a rental and subscription basis for both businesses and individuals. With their subscription model, Pulse4all removes all barriers in purchase, use and maintenance of defibrillators while creating a sustainable and closed-loop ecosystem in the AED market.
Empowering access to essential medical equipment.
Subscribers can choose between two defibrillator models: the Philips FRx Kit Car or the Philips HS1 Kit Home/Office. The selected product is delivered within two days.
The monthly fee is transparent, with no hidden costs, and covers all aspects of the service. When maintenance is due, the Pulse4all team replaces the device by delivering an updated one and collecting the old unit.
Returned devices are refurbished as needed, with new batteries and replacement parts installed to ensure optimal functionality.
Pulse4all’s subscription model guarantees that subscribers always have a fully functional defibrillator ready when it matters most.

Many defibrillators on the market were not kept ready for use, causing critical delays in emergencies. Pulse4all was born out of the need to provide reliable, affordable, and hassle-free access to defibrillators."

What is the core of Pulse4all's "Defibrillators-as-a-Service" model?
Challenges Pulse4all faced in bringing their "as-a-service" business model to life.
Defibrillators (AEDs) become non-functional due to missed maintenance, especially with components like batteries and pads that require regular replacement.
Knowing when it's time to update the device.
The components of an AED expire and need to be replaced to make sure that they are always in a functioning condition. Each component comes with its own expiration date. How do you track all these moving parts that need to be updated?
Tracking of each component separately.
circuly tied the expiration date with the renewal date and automatically triggered the renewal and sending of devices.
Keeping the updating process simple for the subscriber.
If the process is not smooth to begin with, people will not jump on board with such a service. Manually coordinating upgrades or replacements with customers can be time-consuming and often led to delays or confusion.
Customer portal enables subscribers to request swaps, upgardes & more.
The entire process is automated and transparent, making it easy for customers to stay up to date — without needing to chase support.
Tracking all components of the device for regulatory purposes.
Medical devices often consist of multiple components that need to be documented, maintained, and traceable — especially for compliance and audits. Manually tracking this data across systems left too much room for error.
Tracking of each component down to the serial number.
Since each device & component is tracked based on serial number, Pulse4all can see in one system the number of rental cycles a device has gone through, any repairs and associated costs in one place.

circuly brings Pulse4all vision of "ALWAYS ready-to-use AEDs" to life.
A word from circuly's founder —
Nick.
The circuly software solution and the team behind it have supported the circularity of thousands of products and kept them away from landfills.
But the hard work of our customers, like med4rent, is what’s actually driving all of us towards a more sustainable future.
I'm super thrilled to be working with companies like med4rent because together we can expedite the change from a linear economy towards a circular economy.
